The Pitchford family name is certainly no stranger to Jensen Beach. They helped found and develop Jensen Beach, which is now one of the finest, friendliest and most fun-loving communities on the Treasure Coast. J.J. Pitchford and his family first arrived in Jensen Beach in the late 1800’s. They immediately set about acquiring land and opening a number of small businesses. J.J. Pitchford and his sons were also instrumental in the construction of the first wooden causeway to Hutchinson Island and a much-needed water delivery service and grocery store.

J.J. and his family wanted the best for Jensen Beach and its residents. Extremely conscientious about protecting and preserving the fragile environment and ecosystem in and around Jensen Beach, the Pitchford family were true stewards of the land and of the community.
